Your projects
GrainDraft stores saved projects in browser storage on the device and browser you use. Download project backups if you need a portable copy. Clearing site data can remove locally saved work. Project files you download remain under your control. A project leaves your browser only if you choose Share (see Shared projects) or Publish to Gallery (see Published projects). See Your projects for how saving and recovery work.
Website requests
Visiting the website sends ordinary web requests to our hosting provider, including your IP address, requested address and browser information. Hosting services may keep access and security logs. This website does not load advertising or any third-party scripts, and its fonts are served from this website.
Shared projects
If you press Upload and create link in GrainDraft's Share window, a copy of the open project is stored on our hosting account: its name, parts, dimensions, joinery, variables, notes, prices and saved views. Nothing is uploaded before that, and sharing needs no account. Anyone who has the link can open the project, so share only what you are happy to show. The link is a long random code that cannot be guessed or searched for; we do not publish, list or index shared projects, and we do not read them, analyse them or use them for advertising.
Shared files are kept outside the public part of the website. We do not store your IP address with a shared project. To stop one person flooding the service, uploads are counted against a one-way keyed code made from your IP address, which is deleted after about two days.
A shared project stays until you remove it with Stop sharing in the Share window (this works from the browser that made the link) or until shared storage is full and the least recently opened links are removed first. Opening a link counts as use. If you lose the browser that made a link and want it removed, email qazi.f.abid@gmail.com with the link. Hosting services may keep ordinary access logs for these requests, as for any website request.
Published projects
If you press Submit for review in GrainDraft's Publish to Gallery window, a public copy of the open project is sent to our hosting account. Nothing is uploaded before that, and publishing needs no account. This is separate from sharing a link: what is said above about shared projects does not change.
The published file contains every part with its name, size, wood and position; the joints; the project's dimensions, their formulas and the notes written on them; and its sketches and cuts. It does not contain your saved views, pins or presets, and your own lumber prices are replaced with GrainDraft's defaults. With it we store the title, description and display name you typed, the type and difficulty you chose, and two pictures of the model. The window shows all of this before you submit.
We read every submission before it appears, and may decline or remove one. An approved project becomes a public page in the gallery. It is meant to be found, including by search engines, and anyone may open, change, build and share it under the licence in the gallery terms.
A published project stays until you withdraw it or we remove it. Withdraw in the Publish to Gallery window takes it down at once, from the browser that submitted it; we keep the withdrawn files for up to 30 days and then delete them. Withdrawing cannot recall copies that people have already opened or downloaded, and a search engine may show an old copy of the page for a while. If you lose the browser that submitted a project, you can ask for it to be removed by emailing qazi.f.abid@gmail.com with the address of its page. We cannot tell who submitted a listing, so we decide each such request ourselves.
We do not store your IP address with a submission. To stop one person flooding the service, submissions and reports are counted against a one-way keyed code made from your IP address, which is deleted after about two days, as for shared projects. We do not ask for an email address.
Visit counts
The pages of graindraft.com run a small script of our own that counts visits so we can see which guides are useful. It sends the page address, the website that linked to it (domain only), whether you clicked through to the editor, a sample download or another site, how long the page was visible, your window-size category, language and time-zone settings, and your browser and operating system family.
It does not set cookies or use browser storage, and it does not store your IP address or your full browser identification string. To count distinct visitors per day, our server combines your IP address and browser string with a random key that is replaced every day and then deleted, so visits on different days cannot be linked to each other or to you. Browsers that send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track are not counted.
The data stays on our hosting account and is not shared or sold. Individual visit records are deleted after about 13 months; daily totals are kept. The GrainDraft editor at /app/ does not run this script, and this script never sees your projects.
Advertising and privacy choices
Live advertising is not enabled. There are currently no advertising consent choices to manage. If advertising is introduced on learning pages, this notice will be updated with the provider, serving location and available privacy controls before activation. Model names, dimensions, costs, files and project identifiers will not be intentionally supplied as advertising parameters.
Contact messages
If you email us, your address and message are used to respond to your request. Email is handled by the email provider. Avoid including sensitive information or project files unless they are needed. For privacy questions or requests about information you have sent, contact qazi.f.abid@gmail.com.
Other websites
Links to external services open websites with their own privacy practices. The former GrainDraft address on hobbybuddy.ca remains available for recovering projects saved in that browser origin; projects are not transferred automatically to graindraft.com.
